Look who is starting the decade off with a bang and finally ending their longer than intended hiatus. I missed writing on here and sharing little parts of my life; hence why today I am going to revisit the birthday trip I took this past October. For my twenty-sixth birthday I spent the week in Mexico and had the best most relaxing time. And while I would have preferred to spend every waking moment on the beach eating and drinking and soaking up the vitamin d, I did partake in a few excursions to make the most of my time in Mexico. On one day my mother and I took a road trip to Tulum to visit the Mayan Ruins and on another day we took a boat trip to Isla Mujeres. Anyway I hope you enjoy these series of photos from my excursions and I promise to post more this year as I truly missed it.

Havana Travel Diary

This past May my mother and I decided to go on a girls trip to Varadero Cuba, to vacation on their sandy beaches and enjoy some time away from life's usual stresses. I am a strong believer that a good vacation can do wonders for your soul. There is something about getting away for a few days that allows you to press restart and recharge your batteries. Prior to this trip I haven't had an actual vacation, one where I was able to swim in an ocean or relax on a beach, in about 5 years. So it is safe to say I really needed this trip. 

Usual on my trips I like to be pretty active and explore my new surroundings, however that was not the case this time. I knew early on that I wanted this trip to be solely about relaxing and enjoying each others company so my usual planning and trip itinerary was caste aside. That being said we did plan a day trip into Havana to explore the historic city. I have always heard that visiting the city of Havana is like stepping out of a time machine and I definitely understand why. From the architecture to the old fashioned cars, appropriately called older timers by the locals, the entire city feels like it is set in another time period; which I believe adds to its charm. 

Anyway I hope you enjoy these series of photos I took on our tour through Old Town Havana. Our nice tour guide took us around all of the popular sites in Havana, including some history/ art museums, the National Ballet School, The Capital building (El Capitolio), Revolution Square, to name a few. It was a bit of a whirlwind trip but I thoroughly enjoyed our time and I can't wait to visit the city again.

New York City Travel Diary Pt. 3

I present to you the final installment of my New York City Travel Diary. Long over due, I know. I honestly forgot just how many photos I had to sort through; a sign of a great trip I assure you. Day three, much like our second day, was jammed packed with activities and sights to see. We began our day on the Upper East Side exploring Central Park. But before we entered the park we had to make a pit stop at the Plaza Hotel. The Plaza has secured its spot as one of NYC most iconic landmarks. Personally I think it is due to the popular Eloise Children Books as well as the squeal for Home Alone (which just so happens to be my favourite Home Alone film). That being said, I am sure some could argue alternative reasons for the Plaza hotel being as well known as it is, but those are mine.

New York City Travel Diary Pt. 2

As promised I am back with part two of my New York City travel diary. The second day of our trip was intense even by my standards. It was definitely the day we saw and did the most and I swear we walked liked 14 miles or so. Don't quote me on that math but we did start our day pretty early and hit the ground ―walking. By the end of the day my legs and feet were killing me and I could barely stand. But would I do it again? Hell yes.

New York City Travel Diary Pt. 1

I cannot put into words how happy it has made me to finally be able to visit my favourite city. Over the years I have visited New York City approximately four times but it has been 10 years since my last stay. Which just so happened to be the one and only time where I was actually able to see the city. As you know a major metropolis like NYC is constantly changing so one can only imagine what the last 10 years has done for the city.
